Maryland bowling & residential-care overtime (after 48)

Lab. & Empl. § 3-420(d) / § 3-415 pays 1.5× after 48 in one workweek for a bowling establishment or a non-hospital institution whose residents are aged, intellectually disabled, sick, or have a mental disorder. No daily overtime. Classic $20 × five 10h → $1,020 vs FLSA 40 $1,100 vs KS 46 $1,040 vs MO 52 $1,000 vs MD ag 60 $1,000. Hospitals are excluded. Not CA WO 5 40/48/16.

How § 3-420(d) pays

§ 3-420(d) says the wage for overtime may be computed on the basis of each hour over 48 hours that an employee works during 1 workweek for (1) an employee of a bowling establishment, or (2) an employee of an institution that is not a hospital but is engaged primarily in the care of individuals who are aged, intellectually disabled, or sick or have a mental disorder and who reside at the institution. § 3-415(a) requires an overtime wage of at least 1.5 times the usual hourly wage. Maryland Department of Labor’s Minimum Wage and Overtime Law fact sheet restates: employees of bowling alleys, and those who work for non-hospital residential care institutions, must be paid 1.5 times their usual hourly rate for all hours worked over 48 per week.

The same fact sheet warns that federal law may require 1.5× after 40 even when Maryland law requires it only after 48. Check Also FLSA-covered to apply after 40. Check Hospital to turn this row off — hospitals are carved out of (d)(2); use /overtime/ or /flsa-8-80/ instead. There is no daily overtime band and no double time.

Five 10h days @ $20 → 48 regular + 2 OT = $1,020.
Same punches on /overtime/$1,100.
Same on /kansas-overtime/$1,040.
Same on /missouri-amusement-overtime/$1,000.
Same on /maryland-agricultural-overtime/$1,000.
Six 10h days @ $20 → 48 + 12 OT = $1,320 vs FLSA $1,400 vs MD ag $1,200.
Exactly 48h @ $20 → $960 (no OT).
One 16h day → $320 all regular (no daily OT).
