AS 23.10.060(d)(17) / (e) for flat-rate auto, light-truck, and motor-home mechanics: statutory straight-time floor = greater of 75% of the agreed flat hourly rate or twice Alaska minimum wage ($14.00 as of 1 Jul 2026 → $28.00). Then 1.5× after 8 in a workday and after 40 in a workweek (daily-OT hours drop out of the weekly 40). No double time. Not /alaska-overtime/ at the book flat rate. Not /alaska-flexible-work-hour-plan/ (after 10).
How AS 23.10.060(d)(17) / (e) pays
The standard overtime rule in AS 23.10.060(b) does not apply to a mechanic who is employed as a flat-rate mechanic by a nonmanufacturing establishment primarily engaged in selling or servicing motor vehicles; who has a written agreement stating the flat hourly rate and the automotive manual(s) it is based on; who is compensated for all hours worked up to eight in a day and forty in a week at not less than the greater of 75% of that flat hourly rate or twice the state minimum wage; and who is compensated for hours over eight in a day or forty in a week at one and one-half times that floor. Subsection (e) requires the minimum due under those paragraphs to be figured on a weekly basis.
Alaska minimum wage is $14.00 per hour as of July 1, 2026 (DOLWD / Ballot Measure 1), so the 2× MW branch of the floor is $28.00. When 75% of the agreed flat rate is higher, that higher figure controls. Daily overtime still starts after eight hours (this is not a flex-plan after-10 schedule), and hours already paid as daily overtime are excluded from the weekly forty — the same anti-pyramiding rule as standard Alaska overtime.
Flat $40 → floor max($30, $28) = $30. Five 10h days → 40 × $30 + 10 × $45 = $1,650.
